The present way the IT developer has the system counting posting hits is a little misleading and we want to clearly explain what the numbers are, so you have a better understanding of what real activity is happening with your postings.
First, you can see how many hits your postings have accumulated by going to My Profile > Creation (tab). This lists up to 10 of your postings and the hits they have achieved.
You will achieve a hit (count increment upwards) whenever anyone - including yourself - clicks on your posting wherever it is listed - in the Creations or Needs lists or in a search results list. Also each time you inspect or edit your own posting it will add another hit.
If your posting shows up in the top 10 newest added Creations or Needs lists then your posting along with the 9 others will be incremented. This occurs whenever a visitor or member clicks on the menu option to view these lists.
Your posting does not increment when it lands in a search results list. Only if the searcher clicks on your posting from the search list will it then increment.
Bottom line is... just because you see a lot of hits by your posting - this does not necessarily mean that a lot of people are interested in your posting. Hits do not necessarily mean interest in your posting - they simply mean that there was an opportunity for someone to read your posting.
