Realistically, what can I expect from iCubis? Print E-mail

iCubis is NOT the magic answer.  You may never hear a thing from anyone from your posting or profile.  Several factors will affect whether you do make connections from using iCubis:

  1. First, iCubis has to attract a good number of members with many interests and areas of expertise in the industry.  We feel the system will attract many creators, but ultimately we want to attract agents, corporate IP buyers, venture capitalists, product development groups, etc.  So it may take a while to build membership.  Right now we do not have capital to do a lot of marketing, promoting and advertising.  So we are really counting on you to help spread the word.
  2. Even more important than your creation postings, you need to write a very compelling profile on yourself.  This industry - like every other industry - is all about who you know, who you are networked and partnered with and how successful you have been in the past.  You need to indicate every possible positive thing about yourself - things that make you stand out from others.  It took me 12 years to land my first deal and another 3 or 4 before I developed a notable reputation.  You must be very very patient and willing to work very very hard to build a successful back story.
  3. Your postings need to be very carefully written.  Once the database starts getting populated with many postings it will be the search feature that allows others to find a match.  Our search feature is keyword based, so you need to include strategic keywords in your posting.  At the same time you do NOT want to give away or indirectly indicate your unprotected IP, so you must be careful about writing too much - unless you are fully protected.  You want to be concise and to the point, or you will lose the reader - if you land one in the first place.
  4. Honesty is critical.  If you lie or stretch the truth about you or your postings it will come back to bite you and will probably ruin any chance you have of becoming successful in this industry.  iCubis has a system in place to report others who are misrepresenting themselves or their postings and this could get you banded from the system and blacklisted in the industry.
  5. Participate in the forums and be very careful about what you post.  You must use good writing practices, communicate clearly and we recommend you reread everything before you post it.  Spelling and grammar mistakes are a good indicator that someone is someone you do not want to associate or do business with.
  6. Help others!  People remember kindness and helpful suggestions.  Understand that you may need to give away a lot of time and effort and yes - sometimes even great ideas - to others to create that special partnership - that one day may pay you back in cash.  Share knowledge and lessons learned - these build good relationships.  Appear helpful to others in the system and they will come to you for help and there is always more opportunity when you are in the loop.
  7. We highly recommend you work toward forming teams and partnerships than trying to do everything yourself and trying to maintain 100% ownership and control.  These team efforts are very important for several reasons: 1) to help you refine okay postings into much better postings; 2) to eliminate bad postings - if you have bad postings then others will ignore your better postings; 3) to appear bigger and better - searchers naturally assume a posting with a team behind it is much better than a posting from an individual.

iCubis offers no guarantees.  All these factors will influence what you get out of iCubis.  Good luck.
